They are great bikes - design on them is impressive. Very convenient and hold their value of you ever look to resell. One downside to consider: they are very desirable items meaning that thieves love them. Unfortunately i found this out when my son had his bikejacked from him on the way to work...

    Cycling

Living by the estuary, meaning that nearly all rides start/finish with a five mile stretch of headwind/tailwind, I do understand this. The trick is not to fight it. drop the gear, pick up the cadence and just accept you're not going fast. This race became comical - skinny blokes, light bikes...

    I love that Fournel book.

    Cycling

I spend far too much time watching ridiculous downhill MTB videos that scare me silly. I think like many sports/pastimes there is a potential to become obsessive. Always a new piece of kit, something that will make you go faster or look better. I think it’s also about doing something for...

    Cycling

As the resident cycling obsessive I can only concur. Many things I could live without but I would find it very hard to live without my bike(s)

    Painting

I went to the early renaissance galleries in the National the other day and although they’ve been buried away in a dingy basement area (rehanging/ refurb reasons apparently) they were just magnificent- Cimabue, Masaccio, Lippi, Piero - I think it helped it was so quiet. It meant that I could...

    callous love or careless love

I think he has to be a bit of one to allow that itch to lead him where it needs to go and not question it. A cleverer bloke would be full of doubt - he lets it take him. Which means he’s made a few stinkers in his time but I’d still trust him to pull off something remarkable

    callous love or careless love

Speaking about yourself in the third person! And it wasn’t a pop at you. I just think rhyming is really hard - it can sound so contrived so often.

    Joni Mitchell worship thread

That’s not true about Blue but I do think it unlocks something that allows for Hissing/Hejira/Don J to occur. The voice is distinctly different from For the Roses - there’s a confidence and assertion that wasn’t quite there before and a quality of playing that opens up towards that electric...

    callous love or careless love

Whilst I think Dylan does a good line in callous love in his work here it has to be careless love - it’s what he’s experienced not what he’s given. Later he says Situations have ended sad, Relationships have all been bad. Mine've been like Verlaine's and Rimbaud. But there's no way I can...

    Poetry

Oh no! I don’t do explaining outside of the classroom. I liked the poem’s fuzziness, the way it gestures towards without being firmly anchored. An early morning bleary feeling mixed with a certain joy in small things like the smell of coffee. I’m currently in Catania airport having spent a week...

    When My Ship Comes In

I was listening to a version of Dark Star the other day and thought that if Can had made it people would be all over it.
