It's the same thing that happened with so-called "nerd culture". Now everyone's into superheroes and Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't think that self-determination always manifests in normative ways, because to do that you also need the necessary communicative skills, skills which aren't intrinsic to self-determination, I'm saying.

I read that quote as sensitively saying, "If you rely on preestablished rules and metrics for your life, then tread lightly or don't tread at all."

edit: "life" here also meaning sanity, stability, existential security, whatnot.

To what extent did the mythos of Tony Stark fuel this transition regarding the perceptiion of the nerd? By equating nerdiness with capitalistic potential?

It's my hope tho of course that this recent attempt to co opt psychedelics into a management speak business optimisation and wellness will fail. That psychedelics have a mind of their own and will not be corralled.

Just like in the 60s when people* tried to co opt acid visuals into a kind of light entertainment cartoonish framework but that inevitably led to Can screaming about mushroom clouds. A force that cannot be stopped or tamed right?

*The Beatles and that lot

I've done it a fair few times and it definitely isn't cool. You look and sound like an idiot on it and it's only ever unpleasant or bizarre, never pleasant.
