Urban/Ruralist

I was thinking how the old right-left political groups are deprecated in favour of new groupings, as everybody knows, like leave/remain, which maps well onto the country/urban split if you ask me. the rural areas in uk are a scary place for city dwellers, another country, and i think the US is very similar

but is there a corresponding music for the gammons and brexiteers? maybe it's more evident in the states, where there is "country" music, obviously, but i can't think of an equivalent in uk, at least not one that is at all popular

I think a big part of winning the vote was getting northern cities involved too so you get unexpected Working Mans Club music (Northern Soul, Old Rock, and Punk) from people with taste beyond general shit, as strange as it might sound. I figured this from speaking to builders and plasterers in Yorkshire cities like Leeds.

As for rural music I live in a rural area now and my passion for Urban music has declined. I think more along County Lines now I live in Staffordshire.

Is it not just shit music by white people? Mumford & Sons, Lewis Capaldi etc.
well yeah i suppose. of course "urban" has got sort of a meaning in terms of music, though it's not a very robust or respectable term imho

I grew up in a village, but I think a lot of rural Britain is basically an extension of suburbia these days. It might feel different living somewhere properly out-of-the-way, like mid-Wales or the Scottish Highlands or something.

yes you can live outside the city and still be completely part of it these days i think.
but there's a country attitude that sort of mirrors luka's, what's the soundtrack?

It wasn't until I'd drove round Worcester, what I'd consider a rural area that I understood a label like Planet Mu, okay the boss is from London, but there's a Worcester Sauce/Ketchup/Salad Cream etc colour code chemistry to the area that comes through from the squelchy synth sounds.

I blast this round Worcester. The idea is that is sounds like the Chemistry of Worcester Sauce being put on your plate.
