I watched a programme about that sample... I can't remember why but it's true that Sting had the credit for writing the song and made all the money from the song and the sample even though he didn't write or play the bit that was sampled and which made the original song popular.
I believe it's in the top ten of the most valuable songs of all time.

ah...so sting wrote the song, but not the bit that was sampled? does Andy summers get some sort of performance royalty, then? rightfully, he should have shared writing credit if he wrote that bit and receive a portion of the royalties.

sting's a bastard.

I don't think he did though. You might think that Sting would say "Hey I've got more money than I can spend and you earned it for me, have a few mil" but somehow I don't think he ever did.

But i don't think he bought it, I just think at the time they lazily wrote Sting as the writer for everything and he ended up with it unfairly.

The famous one is Alan Freed who got people to sign over their writing credits to get on his radio show.... so loads of people like Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf were left saying "Weird, I always thought I wrote that song".

Beast of Burden

If that was a giallo then the photographer on the far left would have just noticed something out of the corner of his eye, be about to discover the bloody corpse of a beautiful woman and will spend the next hour and a half tracking down her killer while being bothered by an incompetent police detective who will think he's the prime suspect.
