I never really enjoy gigs that much, nine times out of ten I am bored by the end and really wanting it to end. But, for obvious reasons, I hadn't been to anything like a gig for years so when my friend said that her band was playing at Anjos 70 a couple of weeks back and there were a small number of tickets available to sit socially distanced and watch them I actually jumped at the chance. And I am glad I did cos it was really fucking good. Far too many garage rawk bands forget to include any kind of tune in their cock-out rock-outs but this gig was a totally different story - for me on this first listen they really nailed that sweet spot where it rocks really hard but has enough melody to bring it to colourful life.. and they put on a good show which I would assume can't be easy when the artificially small audience is all sitting down miles away from you and each other... the band are called Anarchicks and.... well, I Just stuck it up on my twitter so you can check out some short clips that really don't tell you much at all to be honest. But trust, it was the best gig I've seen for ages.... miles better than a number of the other bands that tend to play around the same scene, many of whom were sitting in the audience trying not to look jealous.....
