I said that the thing that makes him brilliant is what means he will never make a record like the infamous which is reliant on a continuity and consistency of tone and register

And the fractured cubist surfaces of a prime era Raekwon verse
was gonna mention this verse and then saw you had done

i think the best line and the turn is :
"But late night, candlelight fiend with a crack pipe"

it's all kind of generalised abstracted and theoretical and then suddenly you're right there in the room for a second, before being taken out again

there's a lot of moments like that on cuban linx i think

ive also always loved how his cadence has this nonchalance to it, like he's saying , 'this is normal this is nothing this is just standard shit nothing to see here.' 'sip beers, the german ones, next, next'. but the verse itself reveals these mini flashbacks to fragmented traumatic scenes

god you stereolab fans are a tenacious lot aren't you, in that case there's a Common album that has a track with Latitia Sadier on it that you might like lol
does tenacious mean devoted, if so guilty as charged, i still like the band i used to like in 1997. this thread is about an album from 1995

i went to wait outside the record shop in Blackburn on the day Dots and Loops (Stereolab) was released. For the benefit of younger posters that's before computers were invented. In fact if I were going to tell @luka to do a listening thread on an album that'd be it. One of the best albums ever made in my book - but I'll spare myself the string of hilarious withering refusals "why would I want to do that Edmund I've got the cream of rap music right here at my fingertips and loads of drugs to take while I listen" that kind of thing.

i can;t remember the name of the single tune i like but it's so lush, like aphex with a nice ethereal female vocal over the top. great band.
