how come the geezers on here who should be the #1 people to despise this kind of stuff for it has butchered the culture they loved are still more okay with it than the sensitive pop lover souls of today?
what do you have against the wob @suspended ? why is a heavily distorted kickdrum okay (be that 808 or 909), yet a wob is not?
I really want to know.

I know what my problem is with the music Gus likes.
Even though I do think in english sometimes I still hardly listen to more than 30% of the lyric content in tunes if the language is any other than my native.
Might be something related to how my attention works.
Before I started speaking english more, I was already switched to the mode of listening that strains to discern the elements that make the whole, to catch the way the timbres morph etc.
Hence I will never be able to get into pop music properly. Except it's polish pop. For better or worse.

Most pop tunes will provide an ear capturing melody, but there's usually not much interesting progression in terms of the qualities of the sound.
I assume the presence of a vocal and lyrics, which sum up to the most immediately human element of music are what you're supposed to lean on?
Putting a voice on something is the easy way out.

Does explain why autotune songs speak to me a little more than the mode of "indeed I am a good singer and someone got paid a lot for writing the lyrics and melody for this".
It goes a bit further in terms of what it provides in instrumentality of the vocal.

Read the first page of this and half expected to see a homemade Mr Brightside video where loads of rugby lads throw their glass of piss up in the air to sing along to the chorus with their arms round eachother's shoulders

terry riley gives me a similar feeling. like not being scared to live anymore.

something magical happened Boredoms transitioned to V∞redoms - there's a bit on the BOADRUM77 dvd where it's difficult for me not to be overwhelmed with joy
