It's tricky cos the model now for anything proper good is straight to YouTube, on your own. No label, no gatekeeper as such. They are that level in between.

I think I became a convert in the pandemic as it goes. I was also converted to dissensus in the same period. I want another pandemic, but I want one where the Internet breaks instead of the gas between mouths.

I know this is about radio and not dances but I’m reminded of this meme RP Boo posted recently, another pre-existing phenom that feels amplified post-pandemic (and maybe correlated with NTS further blowing up)

All this static your phone causes you but there's also a lot of static with having to get a train and be amongst people. But I do love it, I went out the other week for a few beers and nothing beats it, bug it feels like a looooong effort.

Yeah I joined then in order to make a post about a gig I was putting on, but I don't think I actually posted again til 2018, and the pandemic is when I was on here a massive amount. I think.

This was an interesting show. As an ignoramus I'd never heard of Colin Dale but he talks about clubbing and DJing in London and picks various great boogie, house, electro and techno tunes. ("Hip Hop Bepop" is incredible.)

Made me seek out old radio sets of his and this one's banging

post-pandemic plus general social trends dematerialisation atomisaiton etc socializing' has started feeling a bit like exercising, like you know its good for you and its great once you get into the swing of it but its also totally possible to avoid entirely and does take a bit of effort. especially for office workers i think this really is the direction of travel now, there's no particular essential need to be around other people.

NTS itself is presumably from what i can tell loads of people round the world making mixes and emailing them for broadcast (to the listeners who are on their computers and phones), its probably theo parrish sending emails and google drive links, it's not like they're all getting the tube to the radio station saying hello to the producers making jokes with the people who set up the equipment meeting guests who come in, all of that. its not rinse. or even radio 1
