what is letterbox? what does it do?

Film-based social media. You make a profile and log the films you've watched.

i wonder if being on letterbox makes you watch more movies because you want to gain more likes or comments on the things you've watched

This is one of those useful but toxic things where i start debating what star rating i'm going to give something on letterboxd when i'm only 20 minutes into it

Yeah, I hate the pressure that sort of thing exerts on stuff. I start to feel the list or rating system influencing my habits.

i always thought letterbox was a bit of a niche nerd corner of the internet but i've recently seen it mentioned everywhere.

god knows what was released when but i had a great time going to the cinema this year saw all kinds of amazing things ducking into these little dark rooms walking over town to see what someone has made with a camera. didn't see anything good from the hollywood side but it is on a mad trajectory has been great to watch it careen down this weird track
