R.I.P. Phife. ATCQ were probably my favourite rap group of all time, just edging out Wu Tang (if we discount solo albums), and only recently I was listening to The Low End Theory for the first time in YEARS and was surprised to find that I knew most of the lyrics, or the rhythms at least. What a great contrast of vocal tones him and Q-Tip had.
Sort-of on topic, there's a really good J Dilla Primer in the latest WIRE, as well as a fantastic review of The Life of Pablo by Simon Reynolds. (And a column by third-rate Reynolds knock-off yours truly, too.)
