Oh sorry, I misunderstood. Yeah tv shows are completely different, the pacing and so on. I read something about how watching that Rivette film that's a million hours long is not in any way comparable to watching the same number of hours of [insert tv show] which starts and stops and has cliff-hangers and so on. That said I watched two films on Saturday and Sunday this week and that's not too bad, I'm sure there are days when I've watched more. I read about Scorsese and his film director friends getting together and watching four or even five films a day every day when they were coming up in Hollywood but I guess that's different cos it was done with a specific aim of learning about film history and (even more) techniques and stuff that had been used.

I watched the 'Redux' cut of Apocalypse Now three times in a row once, but I was tripping at the time. I doubt I'd do the same thing in any other state.

I've realised that it's quite amazing how they are showing it here in preparation for the new series. Yesterday they showed all of Series One. Then the second that finished they showed all of Series One again and followed that by the entirety of Season Two. When that finishes they are showing Series One again again and following it with Season Two and then Season Three. Can it be possible that they are gonna keep doing this so that by the time they get to the first episode of Season Eight they will have shown the first season eight times and the second seven times and so on? With Portuguese telly I wouldn't be surprised...

Seen most of s07. Have done a fair bit of reading up so have a pretty good idea of what's going on. But I've been at the coast for the last week or so so I've been outdoors a lot. They're playing the whole thing 24/7 in a loop so some nights I'll catch 2 or 3 eps in a row of a random season.

It's a feast for the eyes. Interesting to see how it changed so much from season 1 to 7 budget wise. Later seasons look like Hollywood. Earlier ones you can see the cameras/sets etc were cheaper.

Anyone else find the Jon Snow actor a bit wooden? And a bit of a wet blanket in general? Also Dany over does those reaction faces. A lot of the actors are great but those two are there for their looks more than anything imo. Casting is mostly top notch though. Amazing villains. Has any other show ever provided so many hateable characters?

Really enjoying the side characters like Varys, Brienne, The Hound and Bronn. Some of the best verbal jousters on the show which is pretty high standard across the board. Sansa, swoon. No-one can stir the pot quite like Littlefinger. Tywin was the most convincing king.

Yep, major flaw in the show for me - two of the most prominent characters, mediocre actors.

My favourite overactor in GoT is probably

Friend of mine claims his gay mate has fucked Jon Snow but you didn't hear it from me

P.S. They're married and they're both aristocrats of some sort, i'll wiki later if i can be arsed

Yeah, she literally grew up in a castle IIRC, which makes her "Wow, is that a castle?!" line when she sees a ruined old windmill quite funny.

Kit Harrington is descended from gunpowder plotter Robert Catesby, whom he played in the 2017 miniseries about the plot.

His accent was bizarre, like a pirate with an ice cube down the back his trousers.

Very good :crylarf:

My favourite Baelyish bit was when he openly taunted Cersei about shagging her brother for no apparent reason other than to be a smirking shitbag, and had a knife held to his throat in a trice.

Yeah I don't get what accent the Littlefinger guy is going for. Same with Tyrion but he has an excuse being American - in fact, for me, he is Tyrion, he's not that much physically like how he is described in the book but now it's impossible to imagine anyone else taking that role. I forgive the weird accent. But yeah, the guy from Queer as Folk (maybe I've never forgiven him for the crush my girlfriend had on him in 1998 or whatever it was) speaks weird.
Yeah Daenyris and Jon Snow aren't the best actors but they aren't the most entertaining characters either, they're fine for what they need to do. In fact Dany is kinda a psycho or at least a fascist. I think that she is seen as a hero cos her story is done in a cock-eyed way like one of those things on the internet when they explain that the Karate Kid is really a baddie (do you know what I'm talking about or does that sound totally mental?) - but it's weird cos the cock-eyed view is the view you get. I like that, I'm gonna assume it's deliberate. I hope it is.
