Interesting that the main artist guy is from the Azores. Imagine being from there!

LOL, that's where my family is originally from, outside Sao Miguel, I think. used to be mostly farmers and fishermen there, not sure about today.

Wow are you? Never knew.

been meaning to mention this to you. only time I've been to the mainland was 11 years ago (on our honeymoon), not sure if you were there in 2008. we loved it. spent four days in Lisbon, then took the train up the Atlantic coast, stopped a few nights along the way (one night at a vineyard winery b&B), a few nights in porto, then rented a car and drove east and then south along the Spanish border and stayed in a few tiny fortress towns with a population of a couple of hundred people (Almeida, Marvao, couple of others). circled back thru evora then over to sintra, then Lisbon for a night before coming home. avoided the Algarve.

My friends who run a radio station here in Lisbon are telling me that the Principe nights do still happen every month at Music Box, shows what I know.

Ah right, no we only moved here a year ago, not travelled round at all yet, although we have just bought a car so hopefully gonna start checking all those places soon... if I can figure out how to change gear with my right hand. Where are you based now then?

Looks like they tried an all out assault on the UK a couple of years ago. Probably found indifferent audiences and lost a ton of money, vowed never to do it again

Interesting also that nazar is angolan, using kuduru as well, but is from a Belgian background. I don't know the specifics of the colonisation but can imagine. And all his music references the ongoing civil war fallout.

Darned cockwombles.
Yeah, they do a lot of nights across Europe - I've periodically kept an eye on that page, and it's always full

driving outside of cities can be a hoot, farmers drink too much vino at lunchtime and speed down the narrow country roads! live in New York.

Spoke to Marfox briefly when he was in Tokyo and I asked him what it was like in Lisbon. He was saying that things (as with pretty much anywhere) are really dominated by standard house and techno stuff, suggesting that there aren't actually too many nights for him and other Principe artists to play at. Maybe the thing at Music Box is one of the only regular nights going on?
