11) Miles Davis - Rated X

Of course none of the 80s avant-funkateers came close to what miles did here. but what interests me more than the merger of north african sensibility with raga and stockhausen is how the guitar is dislodged from even approximating something vaguely resembling melody. if we're making a case for techno, it has to start here, first and foremost. the guitar as tone making instrument. rithing tentacles. and everyone knows how the droning organ and drums endorse memories of the most frenzied amphetamine psychosis.

12) Remarc - Mayhem

His most underrated. mental health breakdown, just 4 u london style. not quite 93 horrorcore but the pleasure principle has been exhausted. yet, we must keep moving forward...

Brilliant list mate. Used to have a few of these - Twat Sisters, Kool G (GOAT for me). Agree on the importance of Miles. Something i picked up from record collecting dudes is that 70s Miles is always fucking thrashed like reggae, Mileds fans liked to party.

That track is like a horror soundtrack. Amazing. I think it's all about texture and density with him. Fuck melody.

craner must be starting to get nervous. no worries, third's list is a separate thing, a different animal. it's not a competition. that would be like parents picking a favorite child, just not right. we wouldn't do that.

10) Orchestre Super Jheevs Des Paillotes - Ye Nan Lon An

Honestly, this whole compilation is the business. I usually find a lot of these 70s psych/funk comps to be hit and miss. but this comp has 15 tracks and they are all killer. all of them. hardest funk bar none from Benin and Togo.
the comp is called: African Scream Contest: Raw & Psychedelic Afro Sounds from Benin & Togo

Gives James Brown a serious run for his money. nightmarish tensing of tendins in the head. let's go.

I wanna redo my list - the other wasn't Dissensian - me being new - and was first compiled in front of lots of prog rock fans. Just don't wanna step on peoples toes!

Love this list so far, that's why.

And yes good writing. I liked the warm up from you and Barty before third made an appearance. Structurally a very strong thread as well as good content

third is like James brown, strutting in mid-song from stage right after the JBs have jammed for the first 15 minutes.

hopefully someone has the cape.
