re. punk is dumb etc etc

sometimes music needs to get dumber

sometimes "dumb" is the smart move - the smarter direction

sometimes "dumb" is the new move - opens up new terrain

music should always swing away from where the pendulum currently is.

if it's tough, go soft. if it's soft, go tough.

if it's smart, go dumb. if it's dumb, go smart.

The lad is a fucking genius. He inspires me.when I see Barty being a genius I am very very happy. It makes me feel like I've achieved something in life, like I've done something good. It's a great feeling. When I see third doing his 100 I feel the same. I feel I'm part of it. I feel I can take some credit. Life ain't easy.
Seeing the young ones smash it, you too othe life, is literally the best thing I could ask for. I'm mega mega proud.

i'm gonna pick some stuff out of the cyclonopedia thread for the new one. was bizarre to see wilhelm reich's "listen, little man!" brought up by the black dog, of all people, in the magick thread, as well. reminded me reich exists. i read it. i think he really did make himself sick trying to help people.

1 & 3 yes, 2 no but there's enough typically to ruin any arguments for defeating that notion because of extreme music's conservatism.

hmmm. Eminem is not really extreme, and neither is a lot of post-venetian snares breakcore, it's just fast.

Bleep and bass was extreme at the time though, bass so low it shook glass bars of clubs.

Oh no I'm calling grindcore extreme music there. Neither of the other examples fit unless you wanna be super generous with breakcore.
