sad to see what's happening in bolivia.

this was written in 2015 and seems very prophetic:

Further, oil accounts for approximately 29% of global fossil fuel reserves. Yet while pipelines are protested, along with fairly little concern by most about the bomb trains that have come with the fairly recent rail dynasty dominated by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates (made possible in large part by the NPIC) there is zero interest in the fact that unless consumption is radically diminished (think mass free transit systems in tandem with rations or bans on personal driving and flights), the oil will continue to proliferate and flow, along with trains and pipelines, for there is no full-scale, mass-market alternative to crude oil, with its primary market being transportation energy. The “alternatives” that do exist are false solutions that carry out more damage than good – under the guise and falsehoods of “green.” For those who hold tight to the dream of a global conversion to electric personal automobiles (for those of privilege), consider that this would simultaneously guarantee the destabilization, annihilation and occupation of Bolivia, which holds the world’s largest known lithium reserves.

This stuff with the lasers looks like a weaponised rave. I saw a clip of protesters bringing down a drone with them the other day and apparently they've been using them in Hong Kong and Chile to scramble facial recognition software.

China sees or cynically purports to see Americas hand behind the Hong Kong uprising.

Putin understood the colour revolutions as a form of warfare. The precursor to this would be Soft power projection during the Cold War. The voice of America broadcasts. Etc.

We can then characterise the rise of the far right across the West as a form of Russian pushback. This may be a fiction, or at best a half truth but nowadays it's very hard to tell.

Neither America nor Russia nor anyone else can create an uprising let alone a revolution out of nothing. Perhaps all it can do is pick a side and try to tilt the odds in their favour. So America might back 'reformist' elements in Iran, tentatively and speculatively, more in the general interests of destabilisation than with any hope of total victory.

Russia might exploit nativist sentiment, might boost the signal of say, Catholic conservatives.

What we know is that great states will attempt to weaponise everything from popular discontent to revolutionary fervour within foreign populations. This doesn't, in itself, discredit those movements. They are still authentic, but it does complicate things. These events have a local importance and wider geopolitical implications at the same time.

Now one of the many reasons Soros is fascinating is that he reminds us (and this is one of the lessons of gravity's rainbow as version will explain when he wAkes up this afternoon) that nation states are not the only players at the table. There are transnational factions, ideological groupings, corporations, cartels, NGOs, secret societies and there are individuals with the financial resources of a nation state.

These also trying to shape reality to their own ends.

China blames Soros for the collapse of the tiger economies in the '90s, Russia for fomenting the colour revolutions, Israel for propagandising for the Palestinian cause, nativist elements in the trump administration and beyond for his support for mass immigration so on and so on.

One of the things hypernormalisation got right was to go look we don't know what's real, we don't know how the spectacle is created and we don't trust it and there are people out there both exploiting this and, to some extent, engineering it. And this, he says, in its most advanced form, was pioneered in Russia.

There is a grapejuice essay I like about this here

https://groupnameforgrapejuice.blogspot.com/2017/01/ideal-objects-delerium-and-other-pizza_26.html

"Surkov resigned as Deputy Prime Minister in 2013 (although remaining as a personal adviser to Putin), yet he paved the way for things and persons far stranger. In August 2016, articles began to surface in the Western media of a Russian "scientific" report whose subject was a new technology designed to cause substantial alterations in mass consciousness. The purported author of the report, the mysterious academic AE Vaino, happens to share the name of Anton Vaino, Putin's chief of staff, and the general conclusion is that these two men are the same person.

Vaino's machine, therefore, is called the nooscope. This is a pretty blatant allusion to Teilhard de Chardin's concept of a noosphere of human consciousness networked by mass media which surrounds the Earth like a new atmosphere. The nooscope, very simply put, analyzes and manipulates the noosphere.

The nooscope is a device that consists of a network of spatial scanners [utilizing "smartdust"] meant for the receipt and record of changes in the biosphere and human activity with the help of transactions — 'film shots' of events — images of space-time-life intersections...The nooscope is the first device of its kind that allows for the study of humanity's collective mind.

What is not at all clear, though, is how this "machine" would function, if it's at a practical or theoretical stage of development, or even if it exists beyond a kind of avant-garde practical joke. Russian official sources dismiss it as being Western propaganda. Is this an outright lie, or is this a bluff to make people think it really does exist, or is this a statement of fact? Each one of these three possibilities leads to bizarre and unsettling conclusions.

Is the entire Russian "fake news" campaign, starting in earnest with Surkov and taken to a new level with Vaino, which includes the propagation of extreme and outlandish conspiracy theories, just one facet of the nooscope? Or is this suggestion of a technology so ridiculously powerful as the nooscope, just another extreme and outlandish conspiracy disseminated by Western intelligence agencies?

Or, even more alarming and extending these conclusions logically, is it not likely that the U.S. and other advanced governments have their own equivalents to the nooscope which are also, at this very moment, generating and channeling the ebbs and flows of human consciousness? Mightn't the U.S. surveillance state, exposed by Snowden and others, be one large component of a Western nooscope?"

Now at many times during the Trump administration I have felt, very strongly, and this, I concede, only in flashes of deep prophetic paranoia, is some kind of avant grade theatre, that it is, in some essential way, unreal. Literally staged.
