usually i make things much worse by getting angry and saying that everyone's being disingenuous and being a bully, but i have grown to realise that these things are miscommunications and nobody's at fault (even if i'm not at all able to understand their perspective).

hopefully others will learn to extend the same courtesy to me and luke at some point.

I assume basically everything both luka and Craner say is said in jest - even when they're serious. It feels like an elaborate performance to me so I'm always surprised when it's discussed as though there's a genuine argument underway. I feel that way about most of the arguments on here tbh - none of them ever really come across as meanspirited or serious when I read them but then everyone seems to end up talking as though they were.

I would have thought this was abundantly obvious. But every now and again someone starts feeling persecuted. Probably it's my fault when this happens and I've got carried away a bit.

I really like teasing people and poking people I think it creates a cosy community atmosphere. You don't want to overdo it obviously or it gets annoying. Just enough to get people involved and participating, make them feel noticed and appreciated.

Its not very old at all. it dates back to the early 1800's. Shunga actually constituted only a small part of Ukiyo-e, and fetish Shunga an even smaller part. There are probably only a handful of examples of 'tentacle' prints, the most famous being the Houkasi - so whilst there is a rich tradition of Japanese erotica, there wasn't a tradition of tentacle porn, there were a few isolated works.

The creator of Urotsukidoji (probably the first tentacle porn manga of the modern era) explicitly claimed that tentacles were simply a way to get around censorship.

It's not racist to say the Japanese are a bunch of wrong 'uns. It's just demonstrably true.

I recieved more than expected mail from Republicans or former Republicans who agreed at least in part with portions of what I said, but I was taken back by several emails suggesting I was a member of Al Quaeda, an American hater, and in one mail it suggested that I be placed in a "tater sack" and have the life beat out of me.

just the image that last part creates of some snuffy smith type character furiously typing out death threads via email

i don't think octopus sex has anything inherently to do with voyeurism. the visual representation is just to get the idea across innit?

for me octopus as sexual ideal is about becoming multiple, becoming flexible, becoming organic, becoming sensuality itself. immersing oneself in nature... becoming aware of every inch of your and your lover's body as erotic, and realizing their sexual potential. surround sound sex.

less rigid, less singular, less phallocentric, less genital-centric, less egocentric.

honestly both zhao's post and droid's post above are surprisingly insightful. this seems to be a subject that people on dissensus have given a lot of thought to.
