so much police in the neighbourhood today. the anarchist bar is threatened with closure and they've been demonstrating against it for more than a year now. they were supposed to demonstrate again today all conform the rules. but police broke it off and went through the area tearing down all the banners and placates. i wonder how the first of may will look like in cities like paris.

something that calmed me though is my fear of bed bugs. local newspapers have been writing about bed bug plagues for years now and it was getting worse and worse. two of my neighbours had them as well. they're hell, you basically have to throw everything away and call in the ghost busters. they say it's a result of tourism and airbnb in special. i hope the pandemic and the absence of tourists will stop the bed bug plague for good.

I was talking to woops about shopping addiction. He said what's shopping addiction. I said when this first started I felt the urge to buy something every time I went out even though I didn't need anything. It felt weird going with no money in my pocket but I'm used to it now I never go shop. I've only been shop twice since lockdown and he goes I go shop twice a day every day!

That's crazy. I think of bedbugs as a problem my grandparents might have had to deal with. Somehow I can't imagine them being a thing in 2020.

really? in NYC for at least the past decade, you haven't been able to grab furniture people put out for trash collection because of the risk of bed bugs. when I was just out of college, I furnished my studio apartment with chairs and tables I found on the street. you'd be nuts to try that now.

if Annakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader knew C3PO & R2 earlier in his life, how come his skill with the Force didn't alert him to their role later on?

big fan of that format

went for a big cycle last night which just felt like normal night shift, the eerie thing which i hadn't thought about were the corona billboards, huge reassuring jamie theakston and amanda holden saying we're in this together from heart fm, one of those things you recognise from a disaster movie

don't think ive seen anything more apocalyptic than Graham Norton trying to carry off a show without an audience, feels like literally everyone just died but hes still pushing on, throwing his corny jokes into the void.

I was wondering about the drug market under lockdown. Just got this field report from an old friend

"Roll to the supermarket. Throw the chip packet with $700 through the Quattro’s passenger window. Get back in my car. Drive to another supermarket, wait. Get a brown bag wit her two zips of Pineapple Express biffed through my driver’s window."

I happened to be up on the hill as it turned 8. Sunset over London skyline and all the clapping and banging and stray fireworks. Never had the sense of something being 'done' to us been stronger and more insistent. Aweinspiring actually. This whole thing is the most intensely magical time I've ever lived through.

On Thursday. Feels designed by a mass psychology expert team. It's very spooky, atmospheric, tingly
