So they changed the date on this but it goes out Tuesday. I thought that this was quite an interesting show anyway. All library records. I suppose you all know what that means, but, just in case you don't. Library music is stuff made by companies such as DeWolfe, KPM, Selected Sound etc who paid session musicians to create sound fx and incidental music but controlled the copyright so they could sell the music to television shows or radio stations or whatever who couldn't afford to make their own music. The sleeves describe the tunes "fast, dramatic and silly" or "slow and tense with hard drums" etc and a lot of it was obviously totally throw away muzak or just noises.... but cos there was no need to make hits and no pressure to conform, every now and again they turned out some really avant-garde tunes, and also some undeniable killers. The records were never commercially available but eventually lots found their way to car boot sales and stuff and collectors started realising there were some hidden gems in there. I'm not an expert but picked up quite a few bits and bobs over the years. I always find it fascinating that these anonymous and weird things - often with such cool modernist covers - contain this kinda stuff.

Klaus Weiss - Dirt Track from Sport Sequences Volume 2 on Sonoton (Germany 1982)
Klaus Weiss - Time Signals from Time Signals on Selected Sound (Germany 1978)
Philippe Besombes - Sleeping Pour Le Zoo from La Guerre des Animaux on RCA Media (France 1982)

JP Decerf - Touch as Much from Magical Ring on Chicago 2000 (France 1977)
The Rias Orchestra - Ele Todoth from Babylon AMC on Intersound (Germany)
Bob Elger and his Orchestra - Racing Team from Happy Meeting on Selected Sound (Germany 1971)
Love Call - Jean Jacques Robert & Jean Michel Guise from Delirius Music on MP2000 (France)
High Tension - Jean Jacques Robert & Jean Michel Guise from Delirius Music on MP2000 (France)
Dr Witch-Wot - P Wilsher and K Chesher from Electroshake No. 2 on DeWolfe (UK 1969)
Bottle Ghost - Roly Kovac and His Fingers from Modern Cartoon Sounds on Selected Sound (Germany 1972)
Gooseberry Fool - P Wilsher & T Kelly from Hubble Bubble on DeWolfe (UK 1979)
Star Encounters - uncredited artist from Space Invaders (Sound fx from a fantasy space mission) on Gateway Records (US 1982)

seriously ace selection, very much enjoyed the presentation. and thanks for the tracklist, i was trying to keep note, but eventually got lost and forgot what my favourites were. Forgotten World ironically was one i was trying to take mental note of.

it's quite muffled, but i quite like that, adds a bit of mystery to the presentation. i do like the talking bits, please continue. if you're wanting more clarity then just eq the lows. so is this a weekly every tuesday at 2 thing?

We do a show once a month on ESR and a two hour show on Threads* - just starting to put that together now. Thing is get bored of just doing a mix so started doing themes, looks as though this one is gonna be all Eastern European stuff.
