These are the kind of events you can only follow through Twitter. It's the kind of event which makes the Lamestream Media seem hopelessly antiquated and hidebound. Not remotely fit for purpose. Tied to special interests, corporate and state power.

This is what we've been discussing. The pros and cons of democratizing coverage of world affairs, filtered through a media that's got its own magnetic field.

Well we've begun the discussion. These three threads, George Floyd, Cancellations and Culture War have all been intersecting on the topic.

Twitter is a significant part of the problem in terms of amplifying hysteria, reducing agency and moving nothing forward in real terms. Systemic racism is the real issue, as are protests. Diatribes in echo chambers can’t change thsee issues on their own. Confusing these outcomes revolves around back to agency and how it becomes diluted through tweeting. Granted, individual cases of police brutality can be circulated, but does it have to be via yet another corporate behemoth in the pantheon of woke capitalism?

Just my 2p coin flip.

Speaking of Twitter, I've just seen some clips on it of some absolute lads doing Nazi salutes while attacking police who are protecting the Churchill statue that they apparently also want to protect.

Really not entirely sure what to make of that.

the world has gone insane, or it was always insane but kept slightly below the surface. lots of good dialogue on twitter and it's useful in many ways, but it also helps to rip off the lid, opens Pandora's box.

Its nothing to worry about, its just the free play of signs and signifiers. They are all just looking for the beach

There's a photo going round of one of them pissing next to a memorial for a dead police officer too...

in the olden days if you wanted to know about the world you had to read the newspapers. not becasue they gave you information about reality but becasue they created reality. nowadays the same goes for twitter (and instagram and etc)
