It’s also just the desperation of comedians to be liked, to get the laugh. It’s pathetic and painful And actually quite sad. This is why The Office is the best British comedy, it’s about this

Yeah but that was about a guy who was desperate for laughs and wasn't funny. Which would be tremendously sad.

I on the other hand am desperate for laughs and get them almost every time. And there's nothing sad about my life, I assure you.

I know it would ruin the joke but it never seemed remotely realistic to me that they wouldn't at least pretend to find him funny. Out of politeness at least. I suppose it could be the result of having to put up with it for years.

But it's funnier that they sit there stone faced. It's super awkz.

Also that office guy definitely exists in a lot of offices. The life and soul. Thinks he's hilarious. (Now remembering a real person) Does a Peter Griffin impersonation.

I don't like the office that much. It's too much cringe. But the keenan character is brilliant. Based on David keenan

I think one thing that gets lost in all the talk of cancelling shows etc is just basic empathy. How would you feel to see yourself or people who looked like you repeatedly lampooned on national television?

Yeah true but otoh, it's important to laugh at yourself and a lot of these things, you laugh a bit cos you see yourself in it

Everyone's been bullied or embarrassed or hurt by other people at one time or another. It's fucking horrible. Imagine that extended to an audience of millions.

and then kids repeat it in the playground and you dont have anyone on your side on telly taking the piss out of them

It's about maintaining a balance. Obviously bullying is awful and you don't want people to take things to heart and feel bad cos they see themselves always represented badly on telly, especially kids, but I think there's more to it than those representations. I don't think cancelling those representations will necessarily help the issue.

Well, it depends doesn't it. There's poking fun at yourself or others and there's just shit like this...
