loads of MMA professionals do rapes, sexual assault, domestic violence etc obviously. probably about 80% of them in fact. not many super villians though.

I just did the first workout of a new cycle and could feel my body screaming at me 'cos I hadn't eaten enough. It might've been the sun, but I was like, hmmm, I wonder if I'll faint.... Was miles out from it actually but I sometimes have little paranoid loops.

Here's a huge thread on an MMA forum about Conor McGregor's alleged sexual assaults / fiendish coke addiction / proclivity for hanging out with gangsters in crack houses (while his wife was giving birth).

I think he was actually charged with something not long ago, dunno what happened with that.

You ever read the Geoff Thompson stuff? That's an interesting take on things. Started as a karate guy then moved to the doors and made quite a name for himself selling "reality based" martial arts instruction. "The Fence", "Three Second Fighter". I had his first novel for a while. Was about a bloke who who knocked lots of people out funnily enough.

I think the higher up you go in MMA the less active criminals you'd encounter (although you still encounter them, obviously) — simply because I think you need a lot of dedication and self control to be really good at it. Plus you're probably earning enough money at that point not to be doing stuff on the side. McGregor I think really went off the rails after he had hit the jackpot.

But obviously it's a sport that selects for people who are comfortable dishing out violence, and having it dished back upon them. Not many shrinking violets signing up for that.

Plus you're guaranteed to have CTE which makes you volatile and potentially hollows out your conscience.

Ah I see I said it all already in here.

Judges in UFC, as in boxing, are highly corruptible.

What's funny though is football, e.g., seems really 'clean' cos it's not an outright violent sport, but surely there's crime connections going on there, too?

Last time I checked FIFA was notoriously corrupt.

Perhaps it's a higher echelon of crime to that surrounding UFC/boxing. More along the lines of Saudi/Russian billionaires. Stratospheric crime.
