It's very interesting in as much as I wager Dickens k is what he's about and who his cynicism is aimed toWard

And my feeling is that Dickens does not like the name master. But imagine I'm wrong and he loves the name master

Which is interesting for any number of reasons but first and most distressingly does it mean we relinquish his primary affects that is to say, characterisation

I put dissensus down 5 minutes ago and picked up bleak house and after 2vor 3 pages I get this sentence, which seems an odd bit of coincidence, given whats being discussed in the other thread!

"Every Tuesday evening there was lemonade and a mixed biscuit, for all those who chose to partake of those refreshments. And there was science to an unlimited extent."

I wasn't gonna bother posting it, but then the Tuesday evening bit really made me sit up.

I've only read 300 pages of one novel but even that much tells me there's a lot of multiplicity going on and no single voice. Apart from like I said, this odd new one that came in, the one from above. But thanks for being clearer, will bear it in mind

In bleak house, he's certainly taking the piss with some of the names, professor dingo, Mr badger, all the coodles, doodles, zoodles

There are, I think, ambivalent answers concerning eg why are the poor and who are the poor ditto the rich

We assume this is the greatest mind since Shakespeare but what are his conclusions? He's a very ambiguous charceter this Dickens
