Is it really? So people at work are never bored?
What a weird thing to say. Those shop girls staring forlornly out the window or patiently folding and refolding blouses and putting them back on the shelves, they're not bored? The 8 hours plus we work a day, that's all a laugh is it?
Nah that's rubbish, if the job is a boring repetitive task then working towards the target is boring in itself. No, not if you have "a target", which is what ever project manager want you to have.
I don't conflate work with capitalism, though.
Boredom could be a sign of rigidity, that's not good. It could be a early warning sign of depression. It could be a state of re-calibrating as well. It could also be a semi-ideal for social life: quiet, de-intensification of everything. No hysteria. (this is not equal to hippie/new agey stuff. not at all).
Sure he wants them to enjoy the job but manager doesn't always get what s/he wants. Remember they are themselves probably bored.Ask what the manager wants. He wants them to have fun, so they can be more productive. No one wishes boredom. Only the real revolutionaries
I'm just talking about alleviating boredom by varying different types of boredom. I'm not in any way saying that it's a solution.Distraction is not the opposite of boredom. Purpose and meaning are the opposite of boredom,
