@Mr. Tea As the WHO's list of drawbacks shows above: ppl contaminate themselves by misusing the mask, touching it (ie. everything we were told before masks were suddenly recommended for the public) and also if masks stop particles, they trap them inside and they are rebreathed having been humidified.

Ppl also start using them unthinkingly, like the many wearing them outside in the rain today: you're not supposed to wear them when they're wet!

No, it's ridiculous to assume the worst case as we can't do that for every hazard simultaneously...find the most probable case and respond to that with some backup for worse eventualities.

fair enough. I'd been speaking to a friend who lives in sweden and that was his impression, but that was a couple of weeks ago and it does look from that graph like they're having a second wave.

it's not ridiculous, it's a standard sort of heuristic. suppose that, in the worst case, no lockdown of any kind is desirable. then the whole argument / internet narrative about whether covid is fake news, a big conspiracy, etc, is moot.

I have a compulsion to look at every thread which is updated but there's an option I find useful that allows me to mark all threads as read so the ones I know get me down (the politics ones basically, and a couple of others) I can do that with and they're marked off

Yeah I completely agree on that. I have this kind of idea that consultants are the psychoanalysts of business, pushing unregulated pseudo-science at high expense that doesn't deliver much in the way of improvement.. and generates more consultants to measure the effects of the consultants they've used, much like how psychoanalysts have to visit others to... I dunno why actually, but they do for some reason.
Both parasites in short.
