  • Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell has told colleagues that he believes Trump committed impeachable offenses, according to the New York Times. McConnell has also said he is glad the House is moving forward with impeachment because he thinks it will make it easier to push Trump out of the Republican party.
This fits perfectly into my story, the idea that the political class as a whole want to purge Trump and Trumpism from the field, but how will it actually play out. These things usually get botched and my nice neat story gets compromised.

Mr. Trump was enraged that Mr. Pence was refusing to try to overturn the election. In a series of meetings, the president had pressed relentlessly, alternately cajoling and browbeating him.

“You can either go down in history as a patriot,” Mr. Trump told him, according to two people briefed on the conversation, “or you can go down in history as a pussy.”

fatal miscalculation. if you want to convince pence to do something, try telling him Jesus wants him to do it. this is Mike Pence, the extremely religious conservative who won’t be alone in a room with a woman who isn’t his wife. calling him a pussy probably made his head explode.

But then again we know exactly what they think. We've successfully internalised them from prolonged exposure
