I'm just saying it's very characteristic! Very Corpsey. Not a metropolitan hipster list like the rest of these poseurs!

Corpsey

You're saying it shows me up as a culturally stunted peasant from the suburban home counties, grasping at sophistication through the recommendations of the bourgeois media but innately drawn to the pasteworks that befit my actual squalid station in life.

I don't even know if I like Apocalypse Now all that much. I was thinking about it the other night after having read Exterminate All The Brutes. Wondering about how it glamorises war (in spite of itself?)

I really like it. It's got The Doors in it. War is glamourous. That's why they make movies about it.

Wait, what were you correct about? And when were you correct about it? You might be wrong again now.

The best thing about that film is the cinematography, which was all done by an Italian.

Apocalypse Now portrays war as being hell mainly for what it does to the American psyche. I do remember a scene where they machine gun an innocent Vietnamese person who's running for a puppy, but I can't remember many other scenes along those lines?

have any of you watched cliffhanger? i think you are forgetting stalloone a bit in this list. i went for a walk with someone the other day and he told me that his cousin seriously thinks stallone is as good as pacino. that's clearly an insane proposition but stallone needs to be factored into any 80s or 90s list.

I was talking to my friend the other day about my eighties project and he said he's never watched a Stallone film because to him you had to choose sides, Sly or Arnie and it has to be Arnie, although, he said, I do support disableds in the workplace etc it has to be applauded

The Specialist is the key work

I've not seen the specialist.

The first rocky is really good. Like the first superman. And then all the sequels, again like superman, are really fun. The one with the Russian is the best one.

That one he did recently, copland, was on telly recently and i watched it all. Its a flawed film but he is really good in it.

I used to like that arm wrestling one he did as well, over the top. Where he turns his baseball cap around when he's about to have a match.
