if we assume its real, i think its reasonable to assume its real, i also think its reasonable to assume people who to a large degree made their money and secured their power by forecasting the future, will be planning for it

I never said they were incompetent. I just think they're self-interested. I also think that any idea of working in "the national interest" is now totally obsolete for our elites. Is America's international standing (however you understand that term) better after four years of Trump? Is Britain any more of a "world power" as a result of Brexit?

The geopolitical strategists of this century are the Chinese.

The US hasn't won a war in a long time. It's a paper tiger, always was. Even dollar bombing is losing its potency as printer goes brrr and Bitcoin replaces it in reserves and treasuries. And it's cultural capital is similarly debased. COVID-19 revealed all this with sparkling clarity. China wins. Better get used to being Chinese vassal states. Lockdowns are priming us for it, so when they are relieved, we'll be much closer to a totalitarian state than we were a year ago. Western liberal democracy, 1945-2020.

Have you seen that card people have been putting through Trumper doors? It basically says something like "Your gay socialist wedding has been booked for Feb 15th at so and so Church. Your partner has been allocated and attendance is mandatory, make sure you are able to follow the service in Chinese".

I'd love to think that the world's most powerful people are behind closed doors coming up with a solution for climate change.... although I do accept that in that scenario their solution might involve wiping out almost everyone.
