"Dissensus was a lot more Debate Club and a lot less Banter Club in those days." Mr Tea.

is the question whether it would be a good thing to pass the bill if it prevents a hard right government from gaining power, lesser of two evils?

i guess that there's no reason why that strategy shouldn't spectacularly backfire if it escalates the situation so that they pass the bill and then the right win anyway.

needless to say they should dump the bill

there isnt a question. i just thought it was the sort of thread the bad old debate club dissensus would devour.
one of the topics it encompasses is the fear of foreign state or non state actors destabilising
like America really got into with the Russiagate stuff

and wouldnt question the right of a state to impose those measures. or would we?

pass the sick bucket
Seems like a lot of noise. Don't see how it could be fully implemented to the legal letter. No doubt many statists will be creaming their pants on how to use it to whip up anti-immigrant sentiments though. Surveillance overload.

craner said to me they all seem pretty sensible measures but he said sufi would hate it so i thought there might be an opening for some productive troublemaking too

Hate speech and ‘separatism’

A new offence for online hate speech will make it possible to quickly detain a person who spreads personal information about public sector employees on social media with the intent to harm them, and will be punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros ($55,000).

The blocking or delisting of websites promoting hate speech will also be made easier and legal proceedings accelerated.

Under a so-called “separatism” offence, anyone found threatening, violating or intimidating an elected official or public sector employee will also face up to five years imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros ($91,000).

If the offence is committed by a foreigner, they could be banned from French territory.

this could be applied to any sort of anti-authoritarian actions or groups, the yellow vests for example.

third what would you think about France banning Islam outright like the communist countries did. would you support that?

yeah, its awful! i just wanted to do an experiment of going back to the debate club days. your post inspired it.
You're probably right and it's much healthier when we're all just calling each other stupid cunts and posting gifs of things being crushed.
