I love Stan and I'm definitely not saying he was crazy but sometimes his posts I couldn't make heads or tails and that's when I get worried about density and private languages, private languages give your writing this alluring texture, people want to learn to speak you, but if it's too much there's no possibility of breaking the cypher, people just give up

I think one thing you could do is make the site itself a bit less sterile. The technical language combined with the white background feels a bit clinical. Create some contrast. Contrast is cool. That's why Sorcerer is a much better title for a film about driving trucks through the rainforest than Wages of Fear. Marketing.

I decided last night to take a few days to do a Jim Morrison style self-incubation. Not eat anything but tangerines and sit on a roof in the sun, planning my world takeover. I may decide to make a deal with the devil somewhere in there. Point being, now's the time for food for thought

Well my character is certainly an issue, I'm a right-wing midwest pervert playing hick in hoe country, constantly re-triggered by my coastal past, shrouding basic ideas in over-technical philosophical language.
yeah his character. thats the main thing
I actually meant while we are picking apart his writing lets open the door to shots at his character but foolish of me to seperate the two

ian penman and oliver craner were pioneering a brown text on an orange background which was bold of them but not easy on the eye

I do actually like the site. It's just that the posts are all text, break them up a bit with some diagrams and cool pictures.

I've never gotten this much feedback about my writing in my whole life, it's like I'm shedding layers of snakeskin as we speak.

I'm pretty good at diagrams I think, I have a big folder of them for personal use, I think you're right, apocrypha and charts, give it visual interestingness, variety
