Just found out that one of the guys who used to play in my five-a-side team has a load of them that he bought for less than 3k. Obviously I'm really happy for him and that's definitely not the final nail in an already incredibly frustrating day.

maybe cash out 10% per month. the way things are going, the value jumps higher than that, so you're maintaining most of the investment and adding a nice little bump to your monthly cashflow.

@linebaugh did you get hit with any of that Texas snow storm?
Im in Chicago now. We got 3 feet! My Texas friends are posting some pretty wild images, like nothing I've ever seen. It would snow in dallas occasionally but 2 inches max. slushy mud snow, not very fun, so this is unprecedented

Chicago folks are used to it, so hopefully roads are getting cleared. sucks to dig your car out, though. coming our way, but the forecast only looks like 5-10 inches.

I've let the car go. Maybe I'll see it again in a month

@linebaugh I cannot tell a lie, I nicked that quote (pretty much) but it's from a Northern Irish footballer so I thought I could get away with it speaking to someone from the US

does that mean that somebody somewhere is paying the price? I guess the value and the power consumption are not connected, but it's all pretty disgusting if you ask me

This is why Ethereum had the huge surge recently - I don't understand the programming but the second wave or whatever is based around this beacon chain idea that vastly reduces mining need for transactions

Allegedly

ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.

Bitcoin mining mostly uses the cheapest available renewable energy that would otherwise go to waste. Hydropower, geothermal, off-peak solar, off-peak nuclear.
One of the best uses of electricity ever conceived, turning waste power into value for generations to come.

Now tell me how much energy the oil-backed, inflationary, war-funding US dollar has used in the same period?

You know deep down its not right. I for one am feeling very validated that I sold my bitcoin back for the price I bought it several months ago.
