True, but all of them revolve around uncircumcised penises, bacon and a queen who isn't even English but descended from the House of Stuart. Which is precisely why I would laugh if Scotland became independent, because the house of Windsor would plunge into crisis - the best of times! So that's @Mr. Tea 's question answered as well.

Oh yeah. my boy promised me never to have that abomination in the house when I'm about. The Irish can be relied upon to be gentlemanly, a far more nobler people than the various Britishes ever could be.

This is it, isn't it. Nationalist movements come down to the same core principles: dividing people into an Us and a Them, and then telling people on the Us to view the Them as different.
