Wonder what happened with that Oath Keepers leader who turned out to be "ex"-FBI and had had a top-secret security clearance since the 70s.

Ha!

In recent days, the vast investigation into the Capitol breach has reached a kind of turning point as the nationwide flurry of arrests — an average of about four a day since Jan. 6 — has gradually slowed and lawyers for the rioters have started readying defenses. While Mr. Schaffer, a guitarist and songwriter for the heavy metal band Iced Earth, was the first defendant to publicly plead guilty, prosecutors expect that many more will follow.

yeah, the mayor was interviewed on Colbert or the daily show, they're suing for costs incurred by the city for trump rallies. he's a smart and funny in the interview. I'm sure there are many other cities left holding the bag.

Says they gotta go through the process but don't expect to see the money. My two questions would be... how does he keep getting away with it? And why, given his reputation, do people and institutions not ask for money in advance?
I mean it feels as though it's almost criminally negligent to give loads of public services to a guy who you know is never gonna pay.

This sounds too good to be true but I choose to believe it anyway

There is a long history in the Trump family of denying serious illness. According to a Trump family friend, Trump’s father, Fred Trump Sr., insisted on working even after his Alzheimer’s disease advanced in the 1990s. “To retire is to expire!” Fred Sr. would say. The friend said that as Fred Sr.’s disease worsened––he once came down the stairs wearing three neckties––the family created a system so that Fred could think he was still running the Trump Organization. Every day Fred Sr. would go to the office in Brooklyn and they would give him blank papers to sort through and sign. The phone on Fred’s desk was set up so that it could only dial out to his secretary. “Fred pretended to work,” the family friend said.

The thing that sticks out to me there is that the example they give of his craziness is that he wore three neckties... Donald could beat that easily without even having to try.

I think the only times Trump could accurately be described as "working" was when he was presenting reality TV shows. All he ever did apart from that was make terrible decisions (whether as an alleged businessman or an alleged president), hold rallies, and tweet a lot.

And speaking of Trump’s inner circle, last week his former “fixer,” Michael Cohen, claimed that Giuliani would ultimately turn on Trump to save himself. And not just Trump, but the entire family. “There’s no doubt that [Giuliani is] nervous…. And it’s rightfully so that he’s nervous, because he knows the power of the SDNY is unlimited, and they use that power,” Cohen said. Noting that Giuliani presumably “has no interest in going to prison and spending the golden years of his life behind bars,” Cohen said, “Do I think Rudy will give up Donald in a heartbeat? Absolutely. He certainly doesn’t want to follow my path down into a 36-month sentence.”

He added: “What’s ironic here is the fact that these tactics of the Southern District of New York, in terms of bullying you into a plea deal, were created by Rudy Giuliani going back 30 years ago. And it’s just ironic that the tactics that he created for that office are now going to be employed against him, in terms of making him plead guilty and, certainly, at the least, turning over information about Jared, Ivanka, about Don Jr., about Donald himself, about all of these individuals in that garbage can orbit of Donald Trump.”

A person close to the 45th president concurred that Giuliani would end up cooperating with prosecutors, telling CNN: “Even the most loyal people have their breaking point,” adding that Giuliani flipping “wouldn’t shock me at all.”

say a little prayer...

Facebook’s Oversight Board, an independent and international panel that was created and funded by the social network, plans to announce on Wednesday whether former President Donald J. Trump will be able to return to the platform that has been a critical megaphone for him and his tens of millions of followers.

I thought they would go, fuck it let's have him back stirring shit up.... but I was wrong

Donald Trump’s Facebook account should not be reinstated, the social media giant’s oversight board said on Wednesday.

Bet his little hands are beating the walls in frustration.
