You ever make a manhattan? Tradition calls for Rye, but here again my great uncle uses Bourbon instead. Personally I'm unable to appreciate the difference.

That said, when you switch out the only two components of a cocktail, it arguably ceases to be that cocktail.

edit: he keeps the Angostura though.

Being an enjoyer of pungentries and homemade pickles, I've pondered the prospects of a cocktail that involves the brine of this or that pickled thing. A splash in a martini, perhaps, although actually I've never had a martini, nor have I kept my promise to @luka about trying a Gibson.

you're talking about a pickleback. get that after earth room.

Although what else would be interesting would be a Negroni but with dry vermouth instead of sweet. That is, a martini with campari.

This sounds good too. I wonder if that bottled pickle juice is as vinegary as I would anticipate.
Pickleback is generally just a shot of whisky and a shot of pickle juice, not mixed. Bloody Mary's often contain pickle juice these days
