Why does the left hate crypto so much?

Don't have a good answer, really, but I do think crypto may open up opportunities to make ones savings work for them, at rates that commercial banks don't seem to generally offer. Some of these opportunities are custodial banks, like Nexo, and others are innate to a given blockchain, like "staking" in Cardano.

It may make people feel somewhat included in the financial system, and maybe that feeling goes a long way, if even at small stakes.

Awfully hypothetical I think. Savings mean relatively little in todays day and age unless you have half a million pounds, and even then one is objectively speaking not rich.

we discussed this a little bit before. young white american men are intimidated by black music, they don't wanna go there. it's something they are scared of getting involved with.

I thought the problem was white american men fetishizing black culture/music

Cmon let's keep the narrative of problematicity straight

Very hypothetical I agree. Also speculative, but having pocket cash to invest, plus whatever savings rates, may give someone more of a sense of building toward something, some kind of agency that would otherwise be lacking maybe.

And rates at the existing crypto banks are a couple orders of magnitude higher than the incumbent commercial banks, and there are no minimum balances required to start earning. We can talk about the sustainability of these rates if you want, but I have faith in them, in terms of how risk is handled.

Exoticism is a problem in Brooklyn, yes, but on Dissensus specifically we see positives in the exotic. I mean you should really study Smiley Culture cockney translation for 7 years, 7 months, 7 days a week and for 7 hours.

i don't think anyone is intimidated by you exactly third, but good pull nonetheless.
Note the key line, which Third missed because—again—he is functionally illiterate:
My problem with ILM is, again, not antagonism, but smugness - the one-liner, one-upmanship culture of getting one over on someone else with no deeper project.

Third's entire persona and set of opinions is built on dunking on other people with smug liners.
