is it that bad? the trailer had me hopeful as it looked like it was going to be something other than a tony origin story fan service vehicle.

A lot of actors and directors have what on their legends when you think about it. De Niro. Scorsese. I would say lynch as well with all his tm stuff. It's part of the process. Success makes you go mad.

but Lynch / Frost, Twin Peaks: The Return is a masterpiece - some of the Black Lodge sequences made me exclaim "someone has smoked DMT!"

I think a lot of directors have uneven careers which is quite a different thing. With The Return Lynch was hardly tarnishing his previous stuff, far from it I'd say.

Steven Seagal however certainly shat on his own leg.

Seagal stated that due to his aikido training he was 'immune' to being choked unconscious. It has been alleged that at some point LeBell heard about the claim and gave Seagal the opportunity to prove it. LeBell is said to have placed his arms around Seagal's neck, and once Seagal said "go", proceeded to choke him unconscious, with Seagal losing control of his bowels

I'm becoming aware of a pattern - film gets announced frustratingly far in advance so that my interest is raised but I manage to remind myself that there is no point thinking about it for the next year or so. Release date nears and adverts and so on at first remind me of it, then begin to annoy me with their frequency, but even so I'm powerless to resist their seductive lure... then the film is out in some countries, but not here... then everyone on Dissensus watches it just before it arrives in Portugal and comprehensively shits all over it, completely destroying my interest. Finally the film comes out here but I stay in and watch Midsomer Murders instead.
