then we did a big bonfire. we had actually bought the wood with us to the wood which in retrospect was maybe unecessary

Some mates and I wandered around in some woods on a mushroom trip and ended up running for our lives from what we thought was a rabid dog. We heard this horrible, slobbering, panting, barking sort of sound getting louder and louder and took off sprinting then later realised it was this underground pump connected to some sort of water plant.

the very first time i got drunk was when i was 13 and on a CCF camp where we had to go into the woods with these stupid ponchos and make a "basher" ie improvised shelter, but really annoyingly had to keep our guns with us at all times. anyway i got given some cheap bells whisky and sat out in a clearing and then woke up just lying in a ditch in the ground with no cover, lost my poncho, thankfully gun was next to me.

It's odd to me that apart from Alan Moores swamp thing, the idea of a human being combined with nature/trees is not really a thing in eg 20th century scifi and film. There's a lot of it in classic mythology like the Greeks and. Romans.

But not now. I suppose cos we've been looking at machines mainly.

I predict an uptick in nature combinations with humans

Max von Sydow was fused with the roots of a tree or something in Game of Thrones. There's also the woman who turns into a plant in Annihilation,

So so so many examples throughout various strains of mythology that put animals together with humans. Centaurs, Narashima, Satyrs, Mermaids.

But you don't often see a half bloke half oak
