Has anyone been to the amapiano nights in London that are springing up? awoken in Peckham looks good. It's not hit the north yet, we're still listening to makina

I reckon I'm gonna try and go to awoken when I'm next down south, I reckon this over a proper system would be upper echelons business as they say

I've been to a few, yeah. The better produced ones sound great on a decent system, a lot more intense. Some of them do sound a bit tinny though could be low bit rate, depends on DJ i guess.

Vibe has been good though not been to peckham audio yet

yep, sorry aboout the confusion, this is about the new london sound, although how many tracks are from uk producers i dont know

great tune

i've tried playing amapiano to other people only once, and they asked to change the music after tolerating it for five minutes

Been listening to this Vigro Deep set in Ldn from a couple months back. Feel like he coulda stretched out the blends a bit more, but I guess it's also a vibe that each track gets to shine by itself

I'm into the techier sounds and weird Can You Feel My Heart edit at 20mins, proper curveball. Loads of grit and darkness in there compared to the more pop leaning sets. Getting the vibe from the comments he's the people's champ weirdo-visionary in the scene

needs more grit for me I feel, it's all very bright — enjoying some of this at home but like songful UK funky I can't really imagine clubbing to it — although that might just be my warped interpretation of clubbing where everything has to be weird/menacing in some degree.

Would like to hear how this stuff sounds on a big system though, the percs leave a bit too be desired for me. I like huge drums that shake the ribcage and fill up the room.

Yeh the percs are mostly focused on the top end - shakers and bongos, but the log drum (bass) is doing all the ribcage shaking in these tracks so you couldn't fill them up too much with weighty percs without losing that

Yeh that log drum can sound totally propulsive when pitched down to around 110 bpm i feel. That scotti dee track from last year lost in abyss really works as a chugger, but still needs some dirtier high end percs. Still a good tune tho!

at the risk of this becoming the scottie dee fanclub thread (not undeserved) this one is ridiculous on a system

can't tell if it was already posted cuz a lot of previous youtube links in here seem to be broken now, unless it's something with my browser. Either way, gotta be one of the most off the wall chest punching 'nuum tracks to come out of this whole thing

I know what you mean about long blends. I think they really really work with this music. I love that thing that a lot of the London DJs do where they'll tease snippets of a vocal tune for ages in a mix. Like playing the "come closer...come closer" section of that DJ jacko tune for a few minutes over another instrumental. Proper stuff
