Yeah but the way I read it it's thick with envy and resentment underneath affection, she's getting all the layers on the page, it's attempting to capture an ambivalent emotional state and accomplishes that effectively I think

it'd be better to find a way to convey this effect without coming across as having a pop at an ex that's what i think

One of the worst things about it is that it’s trying to be “hip Catullus in the contemporary world” which is bad enough, but then name checks Catullus while doing it!

Unless that’s the point and it’s parody, but then that’s David Lodge academia metatextuality that needs to be nuked

You guys have your own alien sensibility that's fine, a hierarchy of priority, a system of likes and dislikes, a structure of values, which no problem I'm with ya, but then you treat it as obvious self-evident non-constructed non-subjective non-idiosyncratic

i'm trying to say i'm glad you like that poem @suspended but i think there's much better stuff out there and it's better in the following ways.

i went to a poetry reading thing online where they read the whole thing in 6 hours, i stayed for about 2 i think. was good tho.
