i was pretty spangled at frequency, as datwun will be able to confirm, so memory's pretty hazy. had an absolutely banging night tho. majesty's and arun verone's sets were massive highlights. so glad to have finally seen verone, skills on deck take the piss.

i went along with a mate who usually attends nights like 'trust', lineups that include the likes of Ron Morelli, Boiler Room's faves etc etc. glad to say he was a total convert. the vibe was great in there, people dancing all the way to the back of the room, dizzled up chats and general friendliness. club system was really good, maybe a little too loud at times but that's probably cuz i get worried about my hearing.

lol I resent Morelli being lumped in with boiler room favourites. The guys label has put out some great industrial shit, much more in the weirdo dutch Lineage of Unit Moebius and co. Yes, boiler room flirted with them for a year or two before the hype died down, but it's not much different to mixmag, ministry and co. doing that in other scenes. No idea why I'm responding to this in 21, was just doing a quick search for Storm but doesn't seem to have been covered on these forums much, got solo 45'd Trilliam told me.

about Storm - can understand the comparison but that's not a good way of putting it considering. I'm pretty sure the news article is in here, was truly sickening stuff and got commented on at the time

He got locked up right?

Will try and see if I can find it using thread search.

i was not massively tuned into this sound at the time/following developments, even now there are certain tunes which I like, so I'm not a faithful deep tech disciple/dj, would never claim to be, but quite a bit of it can just blur into that sort of hot creations/get physical sound for me, with a bit of a london aesthetic. The stuff I like sounds more industrial house/bleep than it does tech house (some of the Switched on Recordings stuff as well.) But then again i am approaching this from a chicago/nyc house angle (although definitely not a purist about it, quite the contrary in fact!) But what I'm looking for is probably different to the likes of Datwun and co, I'm actually looking for house/techno that is doing something different (not necessarily innovative but different.) so no London grammar rerubs or nth generation garage samples for me, got nothing against that but I've long since moved on.

Apparently storm was some kind of pioneer audio rehabs first release etc. But been taken down now? I found a few bits on beatport but they weren't sayin' it for me, not like Mokujin anyway, who I am still kind of freaked out noone has promoted Robinson to the london techno heads cos its all there. Sonically he'd more than fit in that scene.

If you keep an eye on this forum I'm going to put a mix up which will recontextualise some deep tech I think, or at least how I'm listening it from a dif angle. Not to get all poncy and make some artistic statement.

yeh, and similar to solo 45 it was for raping and torturing women. saying he got solo 45'd makes it sound like something bad happened to him. here's the article that was shared in here - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...rture-chamber-equipped-saw-hedge-trimmer.html - he was pretty big in deep tech and had some well known tracks, but wouldn't be surprised if audio rehab pulled the releases after that. i liked his music but obviously doesn't feel right gassing it up now.

I agree about Paul Robinson, he'd fit in sonically for sure. cool that there's someone repping those weirder sounds at audio rehab and house ent nights though.

Theo Nasa - https://soundcloud.com/theo-nasa - released on Mokujin and then crossed over into the London techno head scene via Radar radio (I think) and World Unknown, Andy Blake's underground party and then label. although Paul Robinson has got the sounds, you can see how Theo Nasa has made it work in both worlds cuz he's got that south London meets Underground Resistance aesthetic down nicely. i was always hoping deep tech might go a bit more techno myself too but Mokujin is probably the closest it's got.

ah didn't clock what you meant at first, yeah no I will amend that post if I can, cos my intention wasn't to cast judgment on it at all.

EDIT: jesus christ I read that and it is absolutely grim.

Just to clarify I meant that he got locked up for a similar thing to solo45, not that what happened to him was bad. I honestly didn't realise it could have been taken that way on Thursday, so apologies if I gave off that impression.

Yeh no problem, I didn't think you meant to put it like that, just couldn't reply to the rest of it without pointing out that it sounded off

This music didn't/doesn't get enough credit this is absolute madness.

Nobody's telling me that's shit. Maybe there's only a handful of tunes as good as that though, fair enough but miles better than the afrohouse that came after it.

some great music on the more fucked up colder end of the spectrum for sure but embarrassing thread, especially the completely irritating old blogger exchange about what is and what isn't nuum between blackdown and glasshand on pages 27-28. I like you @glasshand and I agree with pretty much everything you say there, don't get me wrong but lol. so early 2010s that debate about what and what isn't nuum. Peak whiteboy validation, as if liking German acid would have been a crime according to Martin lmao. Really that's who Muggs should pick his beef with.

'stay in your lane you're not supposed to like Gas or Kompakt, this is our white music but we can do as much cultural tourism as we like.'

I need to moderate myself cos I'll get carried away but I have a lot of beef with that man. Like it or not happy hardcore and wobble dubstep had more nuum credentials than Burial ever did, which was the disembodied, arty, project par excellence.

EDIT: got rid of intelligent there cos my meaning is being misconstrued there.
