The White rapper thread

I have no idea if somebody made the thread in here before, i don't care but i want to get this off the ground since it comes up, lets talk about white rappers and the different shades they come in

Not only that but i know some of you amongst the dissensus masses definitley harboured the urge to be rappers but consciously put such desires and tried to channel that energy into some other field but the fire still burns strong. This obviously ties into the thing i did like 569 years ago about white people runing things for other white people but lets hone in on this for something specific

Grew up around loads of white MCs. It's weird to think about it now as I am getting on a bit but they were everywhere, all doing that false yank accent house flow that has sort of culminated in Bad Boy Chiller Crew etc

Kind of an unspoken non-credible lineage or continuum with zero credibility in the country, perhaps rightly so as so much of it is shite. Blackout crew, Makina MCs, "Pleasure Rooms" in Liverpool etc. Everyone does drill now i guess but there are decades of semi-tragic white MC music that everyone ignores

oh yeah all the yutes up in Liverpool still making happy hardcore 30 years after the fact that's true

i dunno about EVERYBODY doing drill cause there has to be people still making donk if High Focus is still out here making UK hip hop, you also have to mention the fact that Bad Boy Chiller crew are fucking huge

Nah happy hardcore was dead in the Northern cities by about 98 and was never really a Liverpool thing tbh (though i did know lads who did drive to those big Helter Skelters etc)

That's more a small town regional niche I'd say. Scouse house was more 135-140, maybe 145 by about 4am ha

Still fast but not quite Bonkers speeds

Very nihilistic music happy hardcore though, interesting really how geared towards oblivion it feels

The white guys I knew who were on that trajectory were all into stuff like Braintax and Dirty Diggers. Some of them liked dnb, but none of them were into MCing on dancey stuff, iirc.

Got no idea who High Focus are but I'll take your word on that. I just googled Makina 2022 and found a mix so going to lash that on now

I actually don't have much to say about it. It seems like a potent mixture for controversy and people getting het up. I'm still pretty fascinated by Eminem, even if I don't like his tunes. I quite like some Wiki tunes, he's white isn't he?

The only time I've spent in Wigan was driving through it but there was a massive youth culture of this stuff there. No-one cares and it's shit but it's a lot more "interesting" to me than the backpacker stuff, at least from a sociological point of view

Its took twenty years to get into the mainstream ofc but this has always been a huge thing. No accounting for taste eh

Tom Zanetti getting millions of views on YouTube is weird for me. I remember people having him as their MySpace song back in the day when he was doing bassline stuff.

@shakahislop here's the thing though you'd think it'd be a source of controversy but it's more a source of that now rather than in the past, decades prior the attitude to white people in rap was "all that matters is if you respect the culture and can rap well"

Thing with Eminem is, at a certain point he became less of a person and more of a symbol in the same way Tupac, J Dilla or even Lil Peep became symbols

There's a whole genre of YouTube prank now where you get a nerdy white guy working as an Uber driver asking if he can rap for the passengers then doing some show off song like 'Rap God' or his own bars.
