Drvg Cvltvre - what's good? Is there a sort of scene

Right, got the car... anyway, realised I got this one record too, could fit in two threads cos it's on Crimes of the Future but better here

Liza points out that Tapan is from Dusseldorf and did something with the woman who did the vocal on the Toresch record if that means anything to you.
Just in case anyone cares, that was wrong, Tapan did collaborate with Viktoria but is in fact from Belgrade apparently.

I've heard that one and I liked it... in fact I was gonna buy it but it was quite expensive, or more than I wanted to pay at the time anyhow.

Pinkman has been boshing out countless examples of this... couldn't sleep so been checking out their back catalogue... this one is good

And I couldn't resist ordering this one (one of the other tunes on this twelve is also cool with a somewhat unexpected guitar riff)

Well this is the one I mean... I certainly wasn't expecting to hear that guitar but it works there I reckon

And really I mention it cos it leads me on to this which is another with a kinda sleazy guitar over a long techno jam

Emperor Machine are obviously right up my street bringing a sort of psych/kraut rock feel to their electronic jams

But they are not really dirty enough for this thread.... but surely some of you filthy gits know some things that are.... keep 'em coming!

Let's Talk About Ceps
Did we have an Identified Patient tune already in this thread?

This is good, very gnarly, slow tempo and industri-sludgy.

I think if we're talking about gnarly and sludgy I can give into my urge to mention Shitcluster.
This is even better at the right speed, or possibly on it.

slow, chuggy dj tool, doesn't do too much, but I can see it being effective under the right circumstances - can imagine mixing it into some of the others on this thread - needs a low ceilinged basement, red light and a strobe...

You might be interested to learn... or perhaps interested is not the right word, you might feel vindicated or mildly pleased or... anyway, I was at my friend's house and I stuck that on to see what it was like and, while I did rather like it, my friend's reaction was much stronger, he kept on going about what a killer it was. I feel that I ought to pass that along.

Ah thanks I am gratified. Charlie from Shitcluster has been in Holland for a long time but is actually English. To me theyre a gloomy trippy but groovy sound that definitely seems something of what Den Haag is all about. There's about 3 or 4 EPs that are great and should be cheap to pick up. I really like this one and the 4th track particularly but again I'm pretty sure this should be at 33!

I hear what you're saying but that one is lacking in dirt for me. Not necessarily as a general tune, but I don't think it's filthy enough to be in this thread.

It's a funny thing isn't it, I mean, you will almost certainly never meet that guy or interact with him in any way or even know his name (it's Max) but it's always nice to know that your choice is appreciated by someone somewhere. The satisfaction of having what you always knew - that you have great taste - confirmed indubitably by some completely random guy in a different country. For sure if I were the one recommending and someone liked it then I would be glad to learn of it. I dunno if that sounds as though I am taking the piss but I'm really not at all.

I am just putting together our next mix for Threads and I'm realising that, without really planing it, it is leaning quite heavily on this sound. Not just my selections but Liza's too I'd say, which is pure coincidence cos she won't have read this thread.

Im glad you are doing a mix of this stuff, cos I had it on my list, bug my list is too big, I still wanna do DLaurents next room three and the rest of polysryle

I'm still working on that now (my computer is fucked and so I had to borrow my friend's one and it's really knackered plus runs an older version of the software... long story it's taking much longer than it should and it will still end up sounding much worse than it should. Though that said it sounds ok to me right now but I think maybe i'm just drunk and when I listen back tomorrow it's gonna be totally horrible) and I have to be honest it's not really a mix of this stuff as such - we each put forward ten tunes or so that we happen to be enjoying at the moment and I observe that there is some crossover with this thread. But I don't want to be accused of false advertising, it's definitely not a mix concentrating on this sound, thought that would be fun to do if we (more likely I) just had time.
