Elon Musk has taken on Detroit's automakers, short-sellers and securities regulators. Next week, the Tesla (TSLA.O) chief executive is set to square off in court against an unlikely foe - a thrash metal drummer who hopes to strip Musk of his $56 billion pay.

The trial will pit the world's richest person against one of the electric carmaker's smallest investors, Richard Tornetta, who held just nine shares when he sued in 2018.

He does say "conventionally right" which makes sense, because he seems more alt-right than conventional right.
I'd say that, if anything, the alt-right (or whatever it's since mutated into) has become today's conventional right. And that the difference between that and what Republicans of (say) 20 years ago stood for is overstated anyway - today's right-wingers are just less bothered about showing their prejudices.

The biggest differentiator is whether they love or hate Russia.

But by verbally balancing the words left and right, I think he's trying to give the impression of being somehow apolitical (although obviously nothing as boring and normie as a 'centrist'), rather than saying "I am unconventionally right-wing."

And even if we read it at that level, it's an extremely widespread kind of unconventionalism.

Yeah I think I’d agree, that yesterdays alt right is effectively much more mainstream today

Imagine thinking the world's richest man buying the world's biggest social network and using it to prosecute a right-wing culture war is worth talking about, like some kind of lllllloser!

see also: imagine thinking the world's richest man doing something that seriously effects many, many lives - all the fired/driven out employees, anyone who depends on Twitter for a significant portion of their income, etc - and destroying probably the most important social network in the world solely bc he took on a ton of debt to overpay on a deal he desperately tried to back out of, while also having possibly the most public extended tantrum in all of human history (and also using said social network to prosecute a right-wing culture war) is worth talking about

his army of simp fanbois is really on another level

he brought back Marjorie Taylor Greene the other day and she immediately started throwing homophobic slurs

so yeah definitely something worth talking about

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that some non-zero number of gay, trans and/or POC folx are going to wind up dead bc Musk's version of Twitter fosters an atmosphere where hate speech is acceptable
Stochastic terrorism, innit. Same deal with Trump - who is, or will be, back on Twitter soon, courtesy of Elon (who is neither on the left not the right, I understand).

Twitter is nowhere close to biggest, you are deeply deeply confused

The hair trigger deployment of the "musk stan" antigen, a thing of beauty, like watching the spirit of discourse sing through a host.
