    logical framework for change

I think the problem with the argument is in point 3. We can agree that adults do things that are detrimental to children but I douby very much whether we can agree what these things are. Many people are very certain not giving children a good thrashing on a regular basis to teach them manners...

sonic youth are old and boring

I really like Washing Machine and the later Sonic Youth records. I like that they are slight. I like that they just drift by. I like that they all sound the same. I think that these are all good qulities in a record.

I haven't read much Ford Madox Ford, but I don't think that you can get a finer novel that The Good Soldier. This is definitely a book that I could recommend unreservedly.

It was by Harry Mathews - I haven't read tlooth but have read many others. He is a member of Oulipo and a lot of his stuff is written under self imposed constraints. All of his books that I have read are worth reading and I would particularly recommend My Life in CIA his recent memoir/novel.

    Poetry

Luka and Craner - if you like Pound and Zukofsky why not try Basil Bunting? On the Fly-Leaf of Pound's Cantos There are the Alps. What is there to say about them? They don't make sense. Fatal glaciers, crags cranks climb, jumbled boulder and weed, pasture and boulder, scree, et l'on entend...

    Badiou as Novelist

I am always intrigued where I see refenence to Badiou being a novelist/playwright as well as a philosopher. Has anybody read any of the non-philosophical work? What are they Like? I read recently that Badiou only has an interest in art of the most austere kind so I presume that he doesn't write...

New Wavers making music for kid's shows

The only ones worth having are Nick Jr and Cbeebies. They can keep a 2 year old and a 6 year old happy enough without making any adults in the room throw the TV out the window. The rest of the kid's channels are diabolical.

I am disgusted that I am reply No. 16 and am the first to say The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping. It is obvious to any right thibking person tha this is the best christmas record ever. As for the Pogues, try living in Ireland and hearing Fairytale of New York about 40 times a day - see how...

granta best writers under forty (1980s)

Adam Mars-Jones His first book Lantern Lectures is great. 3 semi fictional long short stories. After that I think everything (not that there is much) is very gay/aids centered.

    Most avant garde chart hits?

A couple of people have listed Pink Floyd in the list of Avant Garde hits. Some mistake surely? By the time of dark side of the moon and even more so by the time of the wall Pink Floyd were the epitome of conservatism rather than anything radical. I would refer you all to Mr Agreeable who...
