    Yeah I just recommended that he see The Card Counter which came out last year. Some good, intense scenes in that one. Actually now that I think about it, few films I've seen were so successful in terms of establishing such a heavy atmosphere. This film made it seem easy.

    Not sure if I've ever gotten from a film so clear an impression that the filmmaker was trying to offend the viewer. I'm sure there are way more extreme examples out there, I just haven't ventured into those waters.

    Yeah I think it had points where it was little more than gruesome provocation and transgression. A couple people walked out when I saw it in theaters. I loved it, though.
