Mitch McConnell has proven many times that he will stretch the limits of the law to get what he wants, but I honestly think he would not support an action that was in violation of the law. he'd tie himself up in knots trying to find a way to parse the legal words so they fit his narrative, but he wouldn't break the law.
Well that's good if true... just hope a few more have that much principle, might be all we need.

"At the time, Clark was a senior lieutenant with Trump’s reelection campaign; in July, he was promoted to deputy campaign manager. “Wisconsin’s the state that is going to tip this one way or the other … So it makes EDO really, really, really important,” he said. He put the mission bluntly: “Traditionally it’s always been Republicans suppressing votes … [Democrats’] voters are all in one part of the state, so let’s start playing offense a little bit. And that’s what you’re going to see in 2020. That’s what’s going to be markedly different. It’s going to be a much bigger program, a much more aggressive program, a much better-funded program, and we’re going to need all the help we can get.” (Clark later claimed that his remarks had been misconstrued, but his explanation made no sense in context.)

Of all the favorable signs for Trump’s Election Day operations, Clark explained, “first and foremost is the consent decree’s gone.” He was referring to a court order forbidding Republican operatives from using any of a long list of voter-purging and intimidation techniques. The expiration of that order was a “huge, huge, huge, huge deal,” Clark said.

His audience of lawyers knew what he meant. The 2020 presidential election will be the first in 40 years to take place without a federal judge requiring the Republican National Committee to seek approval in advance for any “ballot security” operations at the polls. In 2018, a federal judge allowed the consent decree to expire, ruling that the plaintiffs had no proof of recent violations by Republicans. The consent decree, by this logic, was not needed, because it worked."

Is this as ominous as it sounds? I mean, am I being totally hyperbolic by imaging a handful of tall, beefy white guys with questionable tattoos, wearing combat fatigues, Oakleys and MAGA hats, hanging around polling stations while visibly packing heat, and either heavily implying or actually saying "Vote Trump, or else"?
Well this is what I fear and where I'd hope some would draw the line. I mean, before it happened. I dunno though.

I don't think this will happen on any scale, although sure it could happen somewhere. there are other ways they'll try to claim victory if it's close.

“This is not just an election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” the Vermont senator and Democratic runner-up said in remarks on Thursday. “This is an election between Donald Trump and democracy – and democracy must win. ”

Is anyone actually enthusiastic about Biden? Obviously progressives were hanging their hopes on Sanders, but are there millions of centrist Democrat voters who think he's an asset in his own right, rather than just a means to stop Trump until hopefully a more exciting candidate can be found for 2024?

on the internet their camp is certainly meager but that's the only gauge i have

it's hard to imagine exactly what about a potential Biden presedency that would cultivate a shared sense of enthusiasm. even Hillary Clinton, who was probably also more fervently hated than Biden, had some kind of project meaning.

the question is if prevention of a negative is enough to motivate people to get down to the booth, or if you need a positive

me and Craner were talking about how if Biden is the best they can offer they deserve to lose.

I want to see Trump win and America collapse into chaos and self-destruction. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Easy to say when you don't live there and aren't black, gay, an immigrant, Muslim or Jewish, etc. etc. Or dependent on the ACA for medicine that keeps you alive, or whatever. Same in this country with "progressive" people who are privileged enough to take the position of preferring eternal Tory hell to a Labour govt not led by Corbyn.

I mean, I get it that apocalyptic edgelordery is part of your schtick, but it's really not an attractive aspect of your personality.

Thanks for submitting the review of my 'personality'. Consumer Feedback is always appreciated

You really do take everything at face value. You think the democrats have ever done anything for Black people?! They've already quietly dumped BLM because abortion and the supreme court is the new hot issue. And trump brokering Israeli links across the gulf is somehow anti-Semitic?

people are beginning to realize that the democratic party is one big con game of smiles and hollow dictums. Bernie Sanders' politics weren't so much an issue by themselve, it was more that his style of politics was completely antithetical to the democratic edifice and would expose them all naked in their ugly contorted imposture

Well, they were the original party of Southern slave owners. But then there is also the Civil Rights Act. I guess it all balances out.

Don't think it does quite balance out when you've had them supporting and funding the destruction of Black neighborhoods in about 100 of their own cities in recent months. ramping up division is the democrat MO.

And which president built the first wall along the border with Mexico?

The total destruction of the democrat party is the preferred outcome here. Then entertainment can have Bernie and AOC leading some halfway serious opposition called the Kill party. Dedicated to killing the enemies of the people.
