as someone mentioned on twitter, he probably could have slunk away quietly, but chooses to lean in to the culture war.
as Solzhenitsyn did not say: "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."

& participating in the culture war is perpetuating it whatever side you think you're on, isnt it?
and the culture war is a divisive right-ist trap, so...

it's really easy to make glib jokes about Mumford & Sons because they're that bad they're an easy target but realistically: how could it be a surprise to any of their fans? The way they perform and style themselves, from the instruments to the way they dress, it's all very retro in a Good Ole Days way, and of course that's a shorthand for times when social justice and political correctness weren't important. It's a deliberate choice to align with those values.

Talking of GB News, it's eerie how they've managed to find a Dave Rubin clone in Dan Wootton.

is it taking off there? wonder how large the viewership is.
It exists and some people watch it, some people talk about it. That's about all I can say. I've made a point of not watching it or reading much about it. Sufi made a thread,

"that is not being talked about."

brilliant that so many people like this guy are here to speak the unspoken!

actually i mis read the original post lol.
this is just one of those 'leaving the band magnanimously to save the band' type things. presumably to avoid controversy while in the process no doubt fanning the flames for those who think the poor rightists are always getting a hard deal.
ive no idea what his political views are though, and dont actually care enough to find out what has really happened.
my only memory of mumford is seeing a clip of one song where they say 'fuck' in a song and its delivered with a kind of 'ooh arent i naughty' smirk as if the last 30 years of music hadnt happened.
