One that @suspended used in what I'm going to lazily call his "tis manifesto" is "sandbox" ( describes GTA, RDR, etc )

"boss fight" is one that I wouldn't want to experience in IRL because of rent, etc.,

I like the term "save scumming" but no real application in real life...

"match making" is one that has a completely different meaning in video games

"insta death" is considered a hardcore setting nowadays in games ( only one life ), but unfortunately it is the likely outcome for us in real life

Yeah again I think this is a really good one.

The whole casual gaming vocabulary around space and objects, sometimes derived from maths, like a "mesh" being a surfaced network of nodes that approximates an object, as in that Tomb Raider gameplay someone here posted where it was advertised to have "triangles" smaller than one pixel, thus resulting in smoother meshes/polyhedra rather than the clunky ones in older games.

This is a perfect thread for bringing up Cronenberg's eXistenZ once again,

Ted: We're both stumbling around together in this unformed world, whose rules and objectives are largely unknown, seemingly indecipherable or even possibly nonexistent, always on the verge of being killed by forces that we don't understand.
Allegra: That sounds like my game, all right.
Ted: That sounds like a game that's not gonna be easy to market.
Allegra: But it's a game everybody's already playing.
