thrid has brainwashed me so badly that i now automatically overide my natural response to tunes like that (lol comedy music made for a childs computer game) and look for ways to enjoy it instead
One thing that is quite interesting is that I have a friend here who is fond of quoting the K-punk thing where he says something to the effect that if someone from the 70s was transported to the 90s and played the music of that time he or she would be all "what the fucking hell is this?" whereas if someone from 1995 was teleported to 2015 and heard the music of the time then they would not face the same kind of mindblowing shock.....
And I get the impression that the Neon Screams is in many ways, an argument against that claim... and I have pointed this out a few times to my friend, even a minute ago, I sent him that review in the Quietus that someone linked to here which focused on that particular claim... and then i thought "what is going on here that I am joining in an argument that i don't really care about by acting as a proxy for a book I haven't yet read which champions music that I know nothing about and which, as a rule, I don't tend to particularly like?"
But then again, I do intend to read the book and I beileve that it does make that argument so it is well for my friend to hear it.
