I was gonna get that, but I went for whatever batailles they had in the library instead, the critical dictionary.

A rebours is outside the Durtal quartet.

But I really like huysmans.

This bataillw book has a description from mass on as to what the acephale is. The head goes down to the dick. The stomach becomes a coil. One hand holds a weapon, what's in the othef is not what I first supposed (a bomb) but rather a beating heart.

Also the original acephale meetings were held in a forest by a lightning struck tree. At the last meeting, bataillw asked for a volunteer who would kill themselves in order to cement the immortality o fc the group, but they all said no

I was reading about the New French Extremity last night. I've seen Irreversible and bits of Martyrs and I think that's about enough for me. I was surprised how many of the directors were women, I'd assumed it would just be a load of sleazy Frenchmen that looked like Houellebecq and Luc Besson.

Some very good bits in this critical dictionary. The entry on architecture talks about how the form of the human face represents the midway point between monkeys and buildings. As we evolve, we'll look more like buildings.

Smartphones are basically what we want our faces to be.

I bought À rebours the other day.
I preferred that to La Bas I think, or at least it made a much stronger impression on me. All the stuff you lot are talking about above relating to that book just doesn't ring any bells for me at all, it seems the whole thing went in one ear and out the other.

I'm not a huge fan of that movement either. Also aren't half of the ones that always get mentioned Belgian?

Also a Tea level pun isn't it?

i'm in marseille right now, everything's shut and the only thing to eat is a kebab, and at the kebab shop a passer-by asked the kebab shop guys where the hell to buy cigarettes, because everything is shut. it's 6pm on a sunday, it's the centre of the second largest city.

That's one of the best things about Europe generally, respect for Sunday as a day of rest. We've let that one go totally to pot in this heathen land.

That's not better though is it? That's the absolute pits.

You think you hate capitalism until you go somewhere capitalism hasn't taken hold, like France or Germany, and you realise how bleak life is without it
