What makes you think that the aforementioned people want to fully take them down? Academia is also a fetishised spectacle. To rib on the old moor: Academic understanding is just academic understanding because its thought does not transcends the limits of academic protocol. The sharper and livelier it is, the more incapable is it of comprehending social problems.

True.

I was right, then. I thought as much.

Indeed, before old Jean was even born. No mean feat. Specifically from chapter 21 onwards, comprehensive demolishing. These french ponces do not realise that one cannot analyse economy from marx's simple reproduction schemas, which in any case only apply to individual capitalists as a heuristic, and are otherwise impossible under capitalism. The simple reproduction between individual capitalists (buyers and sellers) is a mental abstraction, which is then (take note!) concretised in accumulation on an expanded scale.

What does this mean?

Thirdform, read my new essay, you'll like it, it's about a proper writer, not these Left Bank poseurs:

yes, I read him in first year, but i shall read your essay.

Klaviercentrism is musical 12 tone.

That's heartening, which book did they make you read?

They did not. torrents to the rescue. I succumbed to alcoholism as opposed to graduating. abject, in many senses, except for the fact that I don't have to deal with Freddy rp accent talking about rock and roll in east Germany, pass me the sick bucket.

Ah, I see, did you read a lot of his stuff then?

Some of it, though it was Adorno and Horkheimer's dialectic of enlightenment which probably methodologically influenced my thinking re: enlightenment itself being a contradictory process which had to inevitably end up with fascism, sooner or later. If you get over teddy's aristocratic trappings and his pronouncements on pop culture as if they are fact, you can encounter a quite rigorous mind who has wrestled with European thought.

There were strong overlaps between Mosse's work and the Frankfurt School and he read them with interest.

The recuperation of Adorno by cultural studies types has been the most shameful development in the history of 20th cent. critical theory.

I stumbled across something of Marx's recently where he'd gotten there well before Virilio too,

“Capital by its nature drives beyond every spatial barrier. Thus the creation of the physical conditions of exchange – of the means of communication and transport – the annihilation of space by time – becomes an extraordinary necessity for it.”

Yes, the grundrisse is his masterwork. he really tries to go beyond even the political thought of his time there. Probably why it couldn't be published in popular book form.

"Finally, who could have rendered more service to everyone, in such a short time at such little cost, than Saddam Hussein? He reinforced the security of Israel (reflux of the Intifada, revival of world opinion for Israel), assured the glory of American arms, gave Gorbachev a political chance, opened the door to Iran and Shiism, relaunched the UN, etc., all for free since he alone paid the price of blood. Can we conceive of so admirable a man? And he did not even fall! He remains a hero for the Arab masses. It is as though he were an agent of the CIA disguised as Saladin"
